SCORPION ROCA Mezcal Bottle | Case Stud
🟤 Project Overview
SCORPION ROCA is a premium mezcal brand seeking a bottle design that embodies raw strength, volcanic origin, and modern luxury.
The objective was to create a dark, textured, minimalist vessel that communicates the brand identity instantly—without relying on labels, decoration, or excessive visual elements.
Glorious Glassware delivered a full end-to-end solution, including in-house mold development, surface engineering, and complete production under one roof.
🟤 Client Brief
“We don't want a label to do the talking. We want the glass itself to tell the story.”
Key Requirements:
-
Volcanic stone-inspired surface texture
-
Minimalist, zero visual noise design
-
No neck label or foil stamping
-
Dark, tactile, earthy expression
The bottle needed to feel as if it were formed by nature itself—raw, heavy, and authentic.
🟤 Design Highlights
1. Silhouette-Driven Design
The bottle features a clean cylindrical body, compact shoulder, and subtly tapered neck.
This creates a strong, stable, and confident silhouette.
Even in low lighting conditions, the shape remains instantly recognizable on the shelf.
2. Volcanic Texture as the Hero
The surface is inspired by volcanic rock—matte, rough, and organic.
Instead of reflecting light, the surface absorbs it, creating a quiet yet powerful visual presence.
The true experience comes from touch—when the consumer picks up the bottle, the texture becomes part of the brand memory.
3. Minimalist Branding Approach
-
Centered geometric logo
-
No neck label
-
No foil stamping
-
No decorative elements
Every detail is reduced to its essence, reinforcing a sense of quiet luxury and confidence.
🟤 Manufacturing Process
The volcanic texture is not a simple surface finish—it is engineered through multiple controlled layers.
Layer 1 — Micro-Grain Frosted Coating
Precise particle control creates a lava-like tactile surface.
Too coarse → feels cheap
Too fine → loses texture identity
The balance is calibrated to achieve a natural volcanic grain effect.
Layer 2 — Multi-Stage Matte Spraying
Two to three spray passes with intermediate curing ensure full coverage and uniform consistency.
This process eliminates corner defects, uneven coating, and seam visibility.
Layer 3 — High-Adhesion Primer Base
A specialized primer layer ensures strong bonding between coating and glass.
It enhances durability during shipping, handling, and long-term use.
Base Material — High Flint Glass
Even under full surface treatment, high flint glass provides structural strength, clarity, and premium weight.
The quality you cannot see is the quality your customer will feel.
🟤 Final Result
A bottle that does not simply contain mezcal—it defines the brand itself.
Dark. Minimal. Textured. Powerful.
Every curve, every grain, and every surface decision was made with intention and restraint.
🟤 Client Feedback
“We wanted a bottle people would reach for before they even read the label. Glorious Glassware understood that from the first sample.”
“The texture is everything we imagined—and more.”
